Space Shuttle Discovery, Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, National Air and Space Museum, Washington DC, America - This was the third of the five shuttles built in NASA's Space Shuttle program preceded by Columbia and Challenger. In 27 years of service, it launched and landed 39 times, having more spaceflights than any other spacecraft to date. Discovery launched the Hubble Space Telescope. On the underside of the shuttle you can see a couple of dark plates, those are new, all the others are worn from re-entry into Earth's atmosphere.
