Sussex - JoeDanielPrice

Bodiam Castle, Sussex, England - Bodiam Castle is a 14th-century moated castle near Robertsbridge. It was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge to defend the area against French invasion during the Hundred Years' War. A castle's moat prevents attackers from gaining access to the walls, but in the case of Bodiam it also had the effect of making the castle appear larger by isolating it in its landscape. Unfortunately, the castle's 28 toilets drained directly into the moat, turning it into effectively an open sewer.
