Night, Buckingham Fountain, Chicago, Illinois, America - The Clarence Buckingham Memorial Fountain in the center of Grant Park, Chicago, was dedicated in 1927. It was inspired by the Latona Fountain at the Palace of Versailles and is built of Georgia pink marble. The Fountain represents Lake Michigan with four sets of seahorses symbolizing the States that border the lake - Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Indiana. The Fountain was designed by Architect Edward H Bennett and the statues were designed by sculptor Marcel F Loyau. The fountain was donated to the city by Kate Buckingham in memory of her brother Clarence Buckingham and costs $750,000 to construct. The water show occurs every hour on the hour and lasts for 20 minutes. Operating daily 8 am to 11 pm Mid April to Mid October.
