Through the Arches at Arkadiou Monastery, near Rethymnon, Crete, Greece - The Arkadi Monastery (Moní Arkadhíou) is an Eastern Orthodox monastery, situated 14 miles to the southeast of Rethymnon on the island of Crete in Greece. The Venetian baroque church dates back to the 16th century. During the Cretan resistance of Ottoman rule (in 1866) nearly a thousand Greeks, mostly women and children, sought refuge in the monastery. After three days the Cretans blew up barrels of gunpowder, choosing to sacrifice themselves rather than surrender.

Lychnostatis Open-air Museum, Limin Hersonisou, Crete, Greece - This is one of those situations where HDR, bracketing three images, is essential to balance the exposure between the outside and inside. Although nowadays the cameras are getting so good HDR just isn't needed so much. My old Canon 5D Mark II lacks the dynamic range that newer models have, I think for this reason and for ISO performance I will look to get a new model soon
Super Moon, Winding Road in the Mountains, Crete, Greece - I took this photograph on the road leading to Zakros (Zakro, Kato Zakros, Kato Zakros), a site on the eastern coast of the island. The area contains ruins from the Minoan civilization. The town was once dominated by the Palace of Zakro, built around 1900 BC and destroyed around 1450 BC. The ruins of the palace remain, and are a popular tourist spot.

Canada Place, The Drop, Bon Voyage Plaza, Coal Harbour Neighborhood, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada - The Drop is a 65-foot steel sculpture covered in blue polyurethane resembling a raindrop by the group of German artists known as Inges Idee. Canada Place, with it's fabric roof resembling sails, is located the Burrard Inlet waterfront, It's home to the Vancouver Convention Centre, the Pan Pacific Vancouver Hotel and Vancouver's World Trade Centre.
Canadian Pacific Locomotive, Downtown, Calgary, Alberta, Canada - This steam train is located near Sunterra Market, Gulf Canada Square, on 9th Avenue South West. Calgary owes its fast growth to being the centre of Canada’s oil industry. It's nickname is Cowtown, and it hosts the Calgary Stampede, a huge rodeo and festival every July.

Sunrise, Kokohead Crater, Volcano, Maunalua Bay, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, America - I took a taxi out to here at 3am, leaving about an hour and a half to climb to the top (1208 feet)) to get there for early blue hour. I'm used to climbing mountains but I've never climbed steps like that before! If you do the climb early, take plenty of water, a headlamp, and a t-shirt in your bag kept dry to change once you get up there.

Fortunately, whilst most of the harbour area was under construction, it's not at all visible in this image. I took this photograph as a series of vertical shots then stitched them together in Lightroom CC. Doing vertical shots, rather than landscape orientation means you can often zoom in closer and create a larger detailed overall final product, it also helps combat leaning buildings.
